Our Trip to Frobergs Farm

I love going to farms/ gardens! I really enjoy that whole connecting with nature, farm to table eating sort of life. We try to eat pretty healthy at our house, so our field trip to Froberg's Farm was a great opportunity to show Beau where some of our food comes from. We initially decided to go because summer is tomato pickin' season and since we were focusing on the color red ... and tomatoes are red... you get it.

We went to Froberg's Farm in Alvin, Texas. It was about an hour drive, which is sort of long, but the drive was easy. They offer year long fruit and vegetable pickin', as well as a corn maze in the Fall, so this will definitely be a place we go to several times a year.

The kids each got a bucket and at the end of picking you paid $3 a pound. For $2 you could buy a Solo cup and they give you a pair of scissors so you can cut some flowers.

Even Harper got in on the flower picking!

We picked cherry tomatoes (these were the size of Roma tomatoes that you buy at the store)!

 And bell peppers...

And banana peppers and jalapeƱos!

When all of the picking' was done, we went in their main building and paid (we got 15 pounds worth)!! Then we got ice cream cones and had a picnic under their oak trees!

This ended up being a huge learning experience for all of the kids (and grown ups too!) We will definitely be back in a couple months to enjoy their Fall crops!
