Make It! Edible Bird's Nest

Edible Bird's Nest (makes 3 nests)

You will need:

Grass-- 1 large Shredded Wheat biscuit per nest

Twigs-- 2/3 cup chow mein noodles per nest

Mud--1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup nut butter (we used almond butter!)

On a sheet of waxed paper, have each child shred the biscuit for the grass. Add chow mein noodles for the twigs and mix together.

Melt the chocolate chips and nut butter in a small pan over low heat. Pour the "mud" over the nests and allow to cool. Once cooled, mix the mud into the nest with spoons. When the child is through forming the nest, put into the refrigerator to cool completely.

Add grapes, blueberries, or jellybeans for eggs. (We like Surf Sweet Organic Jelly Beans because they are all natural and dye-free!)

Because I'm teaching to different ages and abilities, I try to find activities where each of my kids can be successful and participate at their own level.  In our family, cooking and baking work really well for this, and my kids love to be in the kitchen!
